IGNOU, FSSAI to organise two days workshop

New Delhi: The Indira Gandhi National Open University’s (IGNOU’s) School of Agriculture (SOA) and Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is organizing a two days workshop on development of educational framework for human resource in food safety sector at FSSAI, FDA Bhawan, Kotla Road, 4th Floor, Conference Hall, New Delhi on 3rd and 4th November 2011.

“The main focus of the workshop will be to discuss on the issues for meeting the human resource requirement of the food safety sector for the next 10 years so as to ensure the availability of safe and wholesome food to the consumers. The objective of the workshop is framing the structure and modalities to develop food safety professionals who will be competent in planning, developing and implementation of food safety and quality management aspects at national level,” said Prof. M.K. Salooja, Director, SOA, IGNOU.

Experts from educational institutions, private organisations involved in food business, government functionaries, food industry and laboratories will be participating in the workshop. The recommendations will help to develop appropriate training and educational programmes for different stakeholders in the food chain namely – food handlers, food auditors and food analysts.

    it is good initiative. The concerned professionals should strive and ensure that the system is adequate and to meet international requirement for food safety. At present there is no surity of food safety and safety of indian citizen from food is in question in day today life. Being a food safety professional I would look forward for food safety in spirit and not on paper for the safety of inidan citizen
